Global brands and leading researchers to present at corporate sustainability conference
Loughborough University is hosting a one-day conference in July for organisations of all sizes to engage with experts to address some of the great corporate sustainability challenges.
The conference will feature a series of presentations followed by discussion covering the themes of sustainable workforce, sustainable design, organisational resilience, transport policy, built environment and renewable energy technologies. Senior representatives of leading organisations including Coca Cola, E.ON, Manchester Airports Group and Santander will share their experiences of meeting the sustainability challenge. They will be partnered by Loughborough University experts who will give an overview of innovative sustainable technologies and business practices that have achieved national and global impact.
Profit from Sustainability takes place on Friday 15 July, in parallel with the UK Corporate Games (UKCG), Europe’s largest corporate multisports festival which the University is hosting in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council. The UKCG will bring up to 4,000 employees from 200 companies to compete at the University. Many senior representatives from these companies will attend the conference as presenters or participants, whilst also participating in some corporate team building through the Games.
The conference offers an excellent opportunity to network with senior decision-makers and opinion leaders in organisations from all sectors whilst finding out about exciting new developments in sustainability. Amongst the featured exhibits is Intelligent Energy’s fuel cell electric Black Cab, a zero emissions vehicle with a practical range and rapid refuelling, whose development is underpinned by technology which has its origins at Loughborough University. The fuel cell taxis recently achieved road legal status and a fleet of the vehicles is targeted at London for 2012.
Conference organiser and Loughborough University’s Business Development Executive, Dr Kelly Manders said: “In today’s challenging economic climate, sustainability is at the heart of every successful business. This stimulating and diverse programme of workshops and excellent networking opportunities will appeal to senior decision-makers and opinion leaders in organisations from all sectors.”
