UK Corporate Games 2017 Awarded to the City of Nottingham!

Following the recent success of the Europe Corporate Games Liverpool 2016, the Corporate Games World Headquarters is extremely excited to announce that the UK Corporate Games 2017 has been Awarded to the City of Nottingham.

After a thorough consideration of a number of great potential destinations we are pleased to confirm that Nottingham is the unanimous choice of the Games Inspection Committee.

The UK Corporate Games is Europe’s largest annual multi sports festival for businesses and it will be taking place between the 6th- 9th July. The Games Headquarters will be working closely with partners from Nottingham Conferences, Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City Council, University of Nottingham Sport and luxury hotel company Principal Hayley Group to develop the ultimate mix of sport business and tourism for as many people as possible. Everyone is aiming to make this the very best Corporate Games in its 30 year history.

Okinawa Corporate Games hailed a great success yet again!

After a successful Okinawa Corporate Games in 2015, the Games returned to the beautiful Japanese Island 0nce again over the weekend. The Okinawan edition of the Games was one of the first on the calendar this year, and it has truly reignited the Corporate Games spirit in style. Organisations of all sizes got involved – from those that took part in 2015 returning to the Games, as well as lots of new businesses alike. The number of employees taking part had grown from last year and there were over 180 different organisations represented.  It was superb to see such a wide range of Okinawan, Japanese and International businesses getting involved.  The Games commenced at the impressive Okinawa Convention Centre which is famous for its iconic roof and spacious capacity.

The number of sponsors and partners supporting the event was huge and included internationally recognised organisations such as Toyota, Canon and Fujitsu. Toyota have since released a statement describing their time at the Games: “We think its a magnificent event where you can exchange ideas with other businesses, and the wide age ranges also allow people to exchange ideas with colleagues who they may not usually interact with. We already have some colleagues planning for next years Corporate Games. We would like to thank you for providing this great opportunity to us and wish the Games hosts the best of luck in continuing to build this great fun event to a huge scale.”

The Okinawa Corporate Games featured an impressive programme of 12 sports across the weekend, including: futsal, dodgeball, tenpin bowling and relay marathon some of the most popular.  Open water swimming was a real spectacle to see, as the briefings took place on one of the beautiful beaches of Okinawa. Fortunately, each sport was highly popular and a healthy competitive nature was  felt throughout all of the sporting competitions taking place.  However, the respect between the competitors was unrivalled.  with bows and handshakes before each fixture in addition to bows, handshakes and rounds of applause after every match.

The Games saw one of the largest division 1 categories ever seen, with vast numbers of companies entering smaller teams consisting between 1-5 employees.

Overall, the feedback so far has been incredible and there is a real buzz surrounding the Games in Okinawa which was a completely new type of event for the Island. Okinawa is renowned for its beautiful scenic views and fantastic world-class beaches which made the Games that little bit more special. However, the Games also highlighted the quality sporting venues, spaces and facilities which the Japanese island has to offer.

AIG were again winners of the Sport For Life Grand award and were highly visible in their bright Blue shirts across the weekend.  Here their Ten Pin Bowlers show their pride and unity in the Games.

The Grand Parade was well attended again for all of the divisions and the famous tennis ball hit out was very popular with two local Mayor’s and the Chief executive of OTS launching the balls into the expectant crowds. Winners received gifts from the famous Japanees sports brand Mizuno who were also one of the sponsors on the event.

The celebrations and parties were incredible too with a host of amazing artists booked to perform for the excited competitors.

Congratulations to everyone who took part over the weekend, it was yet another great weekend to bring people together.  It boosted community cohesion, put the Island on the international map and brought people together from all walks of life. The World Corporate Games is coming to the US for 2017!

The Corporate Games World Headquarters is delighted to announce that the World Corporate Games will be returning to the USA in 2017!  After considering a number of great options, the impressive City of Houston, Texas has been awarded the Rights to Host the Games, which will be staged from the 16 – 19 November.

The inaugural World Corporate Games was staged in San Francisco in 1988 and a further two World Corporate Games followed in Concorde California and Hawaii in 1989 and 1990 respectively. Since then over 1 million Corporate athletes have represented over 26000 organisations in numerous Corporate Games around the globe in impressive Cities like London, Johannesburg, Moscow,  Mexico City and Kuala Lumpur to name a few. Houston, one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States, boasts a population of nearly six million people and its reputation for hosting world-class, large-scale sporting events continues to grow. In February 2017, the eyes of the world will be tuned in to Houston for Superbowl LI, which will attract over 100 million viewers and over 1 million visitors to the City.

Janis Burke, CEO of Harris County – Houston Sports Authority said “We are honored to welcome thousands of athletes from across the globe for the World Corporate Games.  Houston is a multicultural city with rich international ties and true Texas hospitality. Our goal is to make the World Corporate Games 2017 the best in the history of the event.”

The proposed sport programme will offer over 20 sports, including Worldwide Corporate Games Community favourites such as: Soccer 6’s & 11’s, Golf, Tennis and Dragon Boat racing, as well as being complemented by a variety of popular local sports, such as: Kickball and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding.  The sports programme incorporates a great mix of sports for everyone regardless of their sporting ability and it will offer genuine business opportunities and fun for everyone involved.

The US Corporate Games Team is working actively with the Harris County Sports Commission to finalise the venues and engage with local businesses in the area.  The US Team intend to leverage the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB) as the hub of most of the Corporate Games activities, including the SuperCentre Celebration and the Grand Parade of Athletes. With 1.2 million square feet of exhibition, registration and meeting space, the GRB ranks among the 10 largest convention facilities in the USA making it the perfect meeting and focus point for the Games.

The World Headquarters of the Corporate Games and the World Corporate Cup Team is delighted to announce that the 9th World Corporate Cup of Soccer will be staged at Goodison Park, home to Everton Football Club.

The World Corporate Cup of Soccer will be staged on a prime weekend just after the close of the Premier League season, with the event taking place from the 20 -22 May. After previous successes at different Clubs around the country, we are proud to announce that this year we will be hosted by the Blue side of Merseyside. So this is your chance to play on the pitch graced by the legendary Dixie Dean, Gary Lineker and Andy Gray as well as all of the modern day heroes. Enjoy the terrific atmosphere at the SuperCentre Celebration during registration and the Closing Awards, where the winners are congratulated and awarded. This year, the Cup weekend coincides with the FA Cup final, so we will also be screening this showpiece spectacle as part of our programme on the Saturday for those that wish to see it.

It’s been a phenomenal year for the Corporate Games!

2015 has been a fantastic year for us at the Corporate Games! We have managed to stage huge Games all over the world, from Stoke and Staffs to Sydney,Transylvania to Tokyo Each Games has been different but each has been a wonderful success in it’s own special way.

The Games has always sought to improve the health and wellbeing of staff from businesses of all shapes, sizes and sectors, and this year has been no exception. Your feedback has been brilliant and so motivating; we can clearly see the positive impact that the Games has made in the workplace to so many organisations around the world by encouraging employees to be active and take up sport whilst having a great time with your colleagues.

The year kicked off with a bang with a brand new Games in Asia. The Okinawa Corporate Games was a resounding success in its inaugural year.  The Corporate Games Team in Okinawa did an amazing job of organising and preparing the Games and it has to be applauded for the incredible welcome that they gave entrants from all across the world as well as the precision of the event delivery.  Hundreds of organisations across Japan fully embracing the Games and all it has to offer. The Games saw teams of all sizes come together for a weekend of fun and sporting competition, everyone had such a good time and this success has built a strong platform for the Games on the Island in 2016 and beyond.

In the UK, the summer was once again another huge season. With the World Corporate Cup of Soccer taking place in May in association with West Ham United FC at Upton Park and the UK Corporate Games taking place in June, hosted by Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. Both events were hailed as hugely successful by the host destination and from all those who took part. Both weekends brought together organisations from all over the UK and across Europe and it was great to see so many existing and new businesses represented and having such a great time.  Furthermore, magnificent Games took place in Bucharest, Cape Town, Monterrey in Mexico, Istanbul and Annecy in France.

However, there were even more major events in the calendar for us this year, with the World Corporate Games in Mexico City and the Asia-Pacific Corporate Games in Tokyo, both events took place on the same weekend in November and highlighted the global reach of the Worldwide Corporate Games Community. We were delighted to see these Games were very well-attended after of all of the hard work that had gone in to both events and its was fantastic to see thousands of people from individual sole traders, right up to huge multi-national market leaders take part in the Games. Mexico City was an impressive host for the World Corporate Games but next year this prestigious Games will move to a different world-renowned City, so watch this space for the announcement of the next World Corporate Games. Also, due to the Success of the Asia-Pacific Corporate Games,   the Japanese Corporate Games Team have confirmed a 2016 Games in the Capital city once more.

November was arguably the biggest month in the Corporates Games calendar this year, or perhaps of all time. With the World Corporate Games and the Asia-pacific Corporate Games taking place at the same time, as well as the massive Australian Corporate Games.  Australia hosts three editions of the Corporate Games each year. In Queensland and New South Wales earlier in the year and then finally in November for the Melbourne edition. The Australian Corporate Games is always one of the best attended Corporate Games and it has regularly attracted up to 10,000 participants from hundreds of organisations across Australia and further afield.

On behalf of us all here at the World Headquarters of the Corporate Games, we would like to thank you all for your continued support and efforts in all of our Games around the world. This year has been another superb year on the Corporate Games calendar, and will be one to remember.

We’re gearing up for a huge Corporate Games weekend to remember!

Mexico City was delighted to have delivered the successful bid to host the World Corporate Games 2015 and as the 6th largest city in the world and is a crucial cultural, financial and political centre. The Mexico Corporate Games team have been working hard since the announcement to make it a resounding success for local entrants and for those that have travelled across the Globe; the team have managed to secure the most athletes ever in Mexico for this edition of the Games, so it is sure to have a busy and international feel to it. Team AXA, Sodexo and Lloyds Banking Group are just a few of the teams that have secured their complimentary places in the Games having gained first place winners certificates in the UK Corporate Games 2015. Hundreds of other organisations from across Mexico and further afield like Israel and Istanbul are scheduled to take part and every sport on the programme is expected to be a real competition for the benefit of all taking part.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, the Tokyo team have been working towards the first edition of the inaugural Asia-Pacific Corporate Games, which also takes place this weekend. With over 8,000 entrants confirmed from a vast array of organisations, the Tokyo team have done a fantastic job at securing businesses from across Tokyo, mainland Japan and overseas to take part.  Vodafone UK (who signed up to enter 300 entrants in the Europe Corporate Games Liverpool 2016 this week) are just one of the overseas organisations competing in the Basketball in Tokyo and hopefully this will be a wonderful competition for everyone involved. Tokyo is an extremely advanced and modern City and it is sure to be a great host City for the Games. The Tokyo Corporate Games team have managed to secure a number of venues that are located in the impressive Tokyo Bayside area.  This destination which will be home to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, so it will be exciting for our everyday athletes to have the opportunity to visit these great sporting facilities before the international athletes descend on the city in less than 5 years time.

Preparations are now well underway in Japan for the Okinawa edition of the Corporate Games. The Games will commence in March 2016,  after a huge team effort from the Okinawa Corporate Games Executive Committee and a great deal of anticipation from those taking part and the wider Worldwide Corporate Games Community. The Games will showcase the very best venue on the Island and will give businesses from all over the world the chance to experience the fantastic sporting facilities and services that Okinawa has to offer.

Here at the World Headquarters of the Corporate Games, we are thrilled for the Okinawa team and are very excited for the Games to commence next year. Japan as a whole, is a great host for the Corporate Games, with a superb Okinawa Games taking place earlier in the year and a hugely anticipated Asia-Pacific Corporate Games taking place in Tokyo next month.  The Corporate Games is continuing to grow in popularity in Japan, as it is an extremely hard-working, high achieving and active country. Those that are keen to visit the beautiful Island of Okinawa will get the chance to build relationships with the Okinawan people and businesses.  It is a wonderful experience to get a taste of their culture and they are famous across the world for their hospitable and friendly welcoming nature.  So we would be delighted to strongly encourage any organisations, from neighbouring countries or further afield to visit this fantastic part of the world and take advantage of the fantastic opportunities that exists with the Games over there.

The Games next year are set to be huge, with organisations of all sizes signing up to compete in one of the world’s largest annual multi-sport festivals for business. The Okinawa Corporate Games will feature 16 great sports on to the programme.  2016 will be the second edition of the Games there after an incredibly successful and impressive inaugural Games earlier this year. There truly is something for everybody on the programme, including: badminton, baseball, basketball, dragon boat racing, soft darts, futsal, relay marathon, softball, table tennis, tenpin bowling, volleyball and open water swimming.

The open water swimming in particular, is being tipped by the Okinawan team to be one of the most popular sports on the programme. Partly due to the International Olympic Committee having recently confirmed a 10km-marathon open water swim as part of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro as well as part of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games schedule. However, the open water swimming competition is also expected to be very popular for the Corporate Games in Okinawa because of the comfortable sea temperature of 21C and the beautiful setting of the emerald blue pacific by the chatan-town coastline, where the event will take place. The swim has also been split into three separate routes to accommodate swimmers of all different abilities, including: a ‘shorter’ 1.2km course for those who wish to experience distance swimming in the sea – perhaps for the first time, a 3.1km route for those who enjoy the thrill and challenge of distance open-water swimming and enjoy healthy competition and finally, a 5/10km route for competitive athletes who might like to use the Games for training or competitive purposes.

The entry fee for the Okinawa Games is set at a reasonable JPY 10,000 (roughly £55) per person. Entering into the Okinawa Games guarantees a place and participation into one of the many exciting sports on the programme as well the SuperCentre Celebration, Grand Parade of Athletes, Great Games Party, Closing Awards Celebration, a Corporate Games original sports top, as well as admission into the continually growing Worldwide Corporate Games Community. Supplements are also available for particular sports and the closing date for all admission’s is the 31st of December. So act fast to make sure you secure your sport of choice.

Europe Corporate Games 2016 is officially launched!

The Official Launch of the Europe Corporate Games – Liverpool 2016 was recently staged at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool (ECL). The impending arrival of Europe’s largest multi-sport festival for organisations was celebrated with representatives from a host of different business and sectors invited. Guests included partners, sponsors, competing companies and VIP’s coming together to hear further details on the exciting plans for 2016 and the IFB as well as getting a glimpse of the brand new ECL. who introduced the Lord Mayor of Liverpool as the first speaker. The Lord Mayor was really warm in his address and his clear enthusiasm for the Games and pride in the City was evident for everyone to see.

The evening was a resounding success and it was captivating to be one of the first to experience the brand new facilities at Liverpool’s newest showpiece destination, the ECL.

The packed crowd in attendance were also in good spirits! With guests treated to the Europe Corporate Games cocktails specially designed by Centreplate with alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions available.

The evening provided opportunities to meet with Company Team Leaders, Civic representatives as well as the Organising Committee for the Games and a host of local influencers.   The fabulous array of opportunities and corporate benefits were explored detailing how any business of any size or kind is eligible to participate.  Each attendee was encouraged to get involved and build a team together to take part and get fit for business with many guests eager to ask questions and find out more!

Some Company representatives had previously been involved in 2010 and 2014 but everyone seemed to be looking forward to participating in 2016.  We are now more excited than ever for the Games next year and we are working hard to ensure it will be one to remember!

Cape Town Stages a Wonderful Corporate Games 2015!

The Cape Town Corporate Games took place over the weekend with great success. This Games has been staged successfully in South Africa since 2012, and has been growing to become an exciting annual multi-sports festival with thousands of athletes taking part this year to get fit for business!

A host of high profile companies took part this year like: Turkish Airlines, Shell, Grand West, Absa, FlySAA and many more, the weekend saw a healthy competition ranging across 10 dynamic sports, including: action cricket, dragon boat racing, golf, karting, action netball, tenpin bowling, table tennis, trial running, soccer 5’s and mountain biking. With fantastic venues and facilities the Games proved to be another huge success in Cape Town and all of the feedback so far has been extremely positive.

Cape Town Corporate GamesAlong with the fun-filled and action packed sporting activities across the weekend, there were also many chances for celebrating in true Games style. The Supercentre Celebration kicked off the weekend perfectly at the Grand West Casino and Entertainment World – the largest entertainment destination of it’s kind in South Africa. Less than 100 days to go until the World Corporate Games in Mexico City!

The World Corporate Games 2015 in Mexico City is growing ever closer and now the event is less than 100 days away. The World Corporate Games last year was held in Liverpool, UK and this year it is the turn of Mexico to host the prestigious annual event. The Games will be huge, with thousands of participants taking part to get fit for business, but remember anyone can take part whether your business is tiny or tremendous! The Games will run from the 12th  to the 15th November starting with the infamous SuperCentre Celebration on the Thursday and finishing with the Closing Awards Celebration on the Sunday along with 19 sports scheduled across the busy weekend.

Mexico City has huge potential as a City to stage The World Corporate Games, as this exciting metropolitan powerhouse has superb facilities and quality spaces to offer. Juan Manual Rotter Alday the Games Director in Mexico who is responsible for the organising and staging of the Games is delighted that Mexico City has the opportunity to be the Host City in 2016, he said: “Mexico City has wonderful facilities, a massive infrastructure for business and it is an exciting destination for tourist visitors. We are looking forward to taking our involvement with the Corporate Games onto the World stage and to welcoming people from all over the Globe to participate”.

Okinawa Stages a Special Weekend in a Special Year

The first weekend of March was a special one for the Games as the inaugural Okinawa Corporate Games was staged on this idyllic Island.

Okinawa is an beautiful place, famed as a tourist destination for many years but now it has now taken it’s place as a centre for sport and business too.  With a rich cultural heritage, terrific venues and magical scenery this destination possesses some fantastic attributes to stage the Games and the quality of venues selected was exemplary.

In addition the hardworking Games Team on the Island ensured that there was something for everyone to enjoy regardless of their age or sporting prowess.

As well as the packed weekend of sport that Games participants have come to expect, Okinawa gave all of the entrants an excellent array of celebrations with the Grand Parade of Athletes, Great Games Party and Closing Awards particular highlights.  These components were brilliantly staged at the purpose built Celebration Zone that was constructed for the weekend in the grounds of the Official Games Headquarters Hotel, the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort.

Entrants came from across the world to join with local business participants to enjoy the ultimate mix of sport, business and tourism.  Companies were represented that had traveled from the UK, Malaysia, Hong-Kong, Singapore, America, Taiwan and many more so, there was a truly international feel to the proceedings which was been really pleasing for the host of local supporters of the Games.

Mr Bill Torch, Team Leader from Lloyds Banking Group brought a group of 19 from the UK to be involved and he was overwhelmed by the welcome they received from the Games Hosts.  Bill sent this message to the Team there; “The Games were a fantastic success and you all should be very, very proud of what you achieved. The Games Party on Saturday and the Awards Presentation on the Sunday were the best we have ever been to. Both were an excellent experience and something we will not forget. On behalf of the team I would like to say that the people of Okinawa are lovely and made us feel very relaxed and very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Both the hotels, the Vessel and the Hilton were brilliant, but the Hilton was out of this world. I cannot express how much we all enjoyed our time in Okinawa and we all hope to return in future”.

Mr Torch and his team were successful in winning the Division 3 Award and also the Badminton Sports Championship as well as a host of medals.

As always any first place medalist at any Corporate Games automatically gains complimentary entry into the World Corporate Games later in the year.  For those that don’t already know, the destination for that Games will be Mexico City from the 12-15th November,  so Mr Torch and some of his team could be in for a treat in November too…

Juan Manuel Rotter Alday has been responsible for staging almost half a dozen Games in Mexico in recent years but he is really looking forward to seeing the biggest annual multi-sport festival for businesses staged in Mexico City.  This is a bustling City of over 20 Million inhabitants with a rich sporting and business history.  Juan has confirmed that the appetite from Mexican companies to be involved has been stronger than ever but he is is also keen to  encourage International visitors from around the World to join with the locals in the Games this year.  He said, ” We have an array of excellent packages available that are outstanding value and we want to ensure that every visitor will enjoy one of the best experiences of their lives.  We are so proud to have the opportunity to stage the World Corporate Games and we are already working hard to ensure it is the best that it can be – we really hope that you can join us in November”

World Corporate Games Makes Flying Start

The World Corporate Games Headquarters is delighted to confirm that the World Corporate Games Liverpool 2014 , presented by the International Festival for Business, is already on track to be one of the biggest Corporate Games of the decade.

After great Games experiences for thousands of organisations around the globe, the Flagship Games for 2014 is set to be a huge success, creating unrivalled opportunities for everyone involved.

Across the UK, huge numbers of major organisations have already secured their places, with large teams already confirmed from the likes of Asda, CSC, Intel, Towers Watson, Vodafone, EY, Accenture, JLR, Unilever, AXA, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Lloyds Banking group to name just a dozen of the well known companies. Peel Holdings has joined CSC as Headline sponsors and this will be their first ever Corporate Games .  Peel will be staging the dragonboat racing and open water swimming at their impressive Princes Dock and this site looks set to be a real focal point of Games activity over the weekend.  The Peel Group are heavily involved in business and they are continuing to invest in major developments across the UK. Peel is looking to field a team in excess of 200 participants and the rumour is that they may be very competitive!

Places for People from Preston has also taken a package for the 3rd consecutive year.  This team was planning to feature just over 100 entrants entrants again this year but after overwhelming interest from throughout their group they have decided to enter over 250 participants which is great news for all concerned.  They will all be competing keenly for points, medals and awards in Liverpool in June.
