Cape Town Stages a Wonderful Corporate Games 2015!

The Cape Town Corporate Games took place over the weekend with great success. This Games has been staged successfully in South Africa since 2012, and has been growing to become an exciting annual multi-sports festival with thousands of athletes taking part this year to get fit for business!

A host of high profile companies took part this year like: Turkish Airlines, Shell, Grand West, Absa, FlySAA and many more, the weekend saw a healthy competition ranging across 10 dynamic sports, including: action cricket, dragon boat racing, golf, karting, action netball, tenpin bowling, table tennis, trial running, soccer 5’s and mountain biking. With fantastic venues and facilities the Games proved to be another huge success in Cape Town and all of the feedback so far has been extremely positive.

Cape Town Corporate GamesAlong with the fun-filled and action packed sporting activities across the weekend, there were also many chances for celebrating in true Games style. The Supercentre Celebration kicked off the weekend perfectly at the Grand West Casino and Entertainment World – the largest entertainment destination of it’s kind in South Africa. The Games also saw a successful Games Celebration and Parade along with the Closing Celebration also taking place at Grand West – the official host venue for the Cape Town Corporate Games.grandwest-exterior-evening_jpg_sunimage_1400_730

 

The Corporate Games has been growing year upon year now in South Africa and we are proud of the successes being made and excited for the future Games to be held in this fantastic part of the World.

World Corporate Games Makes Flying Start

The World Corporate Games Headquarters is delighted to confirm that the World Corporate Games Liverpool 2014 , presented by the International Festival for Business, is already on track to be one of the biggest Corporate Games of the decade.

After great Games experiences for thousands of organisations around the globe, the Flagship Games for 2014 is set to be a huge success, creating unrivalled opportunities for everyone involved.

On the sponsorship front, 3 time Platinum sponsors and Medallist Award winners CSC has upgraded to Headline Sponsor Status and increased its team size too.  CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation) will be bringing a team of 270 participants and is aiming to see the organisation represented in every sport on the programme this year.  Mick Williams, Team Leader of CSC said ” we have been increasing our numbers steadily from 50 in Liverpool in 2010 and to be bringing such a big team back to Liverpool in 2014 is terrific for us all.  We are looking forward to seeing CSC come together for a fabulous weekend and to wearing our CSC colours with pride”.

Peel Holdings has joined CSC as Headline sponsors and this will be their first ever Corporate Games .  Peel will be staging the dragonboat racing and open water swimming at their impressive Princes Dock and this site looks set to be a real focal point of Games activity over the weekend.  The Peel Group are heavily involved in business and they are continuing to invest in major developments across the UK. Peel is looking to field a team in excess of 200 participants and the rumour is that they may be very competitive!

Places for People from Preston has also taken a package for the 3rd consecutive year.  This team was planning to feature just over 100 entrants entrants again this year but after overwhelming interest from throughout their group they have decided to enter over 250 participants which is great news for all concerned.  They will all be competing keenly for points, medals and awards in Liverpool in June.

A host of great sponsors are already confirmed from a multitude of different sectors, with Jaguar Land Rover named as the Official Vehicle Supplier, Walton’s Coaches the Official Travel Provider, and the impressive Richmond Hotel already selected as the Official Headquarters Hotel.  On the business front the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, Liverpool Vision and Downtown in Business are also widely supporting the Games.  SportsJam, providers of terrific sport and teamwear to suit any budget have been unveiled as the Official Kit provider’s for the 2nd Year running.

Ben Sedgemore, Games Director of the World Corporate Games  said, “we managed to deliver an extremely impressive venue offer for participants for the UK Corporate Games in Liverpool in 2010 but I have to say that we are convinced that the selections made for 2014 will be even more impressive. Cape Town Corporate Games Official Charity Tag Rugby: Adopt a School Programme

Corporate Games South Africa has been involved in this unique programme and adopted Siyabulela Primary School, based in Langa township outside Cape Town for the past two years.   As sponsors and supporters of Corporate Games you have an opportunity to Adopt your own School and become personally involved in this successful CSI programme.

Siyabulela is now a part of the national SARU Grassroots Development programme that will give the school the opportunity to play in leagues and to enter Tournaments run by the Tag Rugby® Association.

With the Tag Rugby® Adopt a School Programme, we are attempting to get children off the streets and away from the ills they are confronted with on a daily basis to enjoy sport with other children.

Muhammed Ali said “Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside of them – a desire, a dream, a vision…. they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.”

By using Tag Rugby® (which requires no infrastructure and rugby experience) the learners in under-privileged areas with no facilities enjoy the feeling of running with a ball in their hands and having fun with their peers. Tag Rugby® can be played by boys and girls and there is no contact in Tag Rugby® so the fear of injury is removed from the game.

Your company can adopt a school it’s immediate area or can select a specific school. In many instances, especially regarding sport, the donated resources are often stolen, lost or put into a cupboard and forgotten about.

With the Adopt a School Tag Rugby® Programme, your company will have someone accountable for the donation and the learners at the schools will benefit by virtue of the fact that they are getting exercise whilst having fun. We have found that Tag Rugby® due to the very nature of the game improves learners’ eye-hand co-ordination and concentration levels in the school environment.

The programme qualifies for 100% tax relief in terms of a donation and all relevant documentation will be provided.

Originating in San Francisco in 1988 and rapidly growing in popularity each year, we are excited to announce that the third annual Cape Town Corporate Games will take place from 5-8 June 2014, with the V&A Waterfront playing host once again. Dragon boat challenge – Preparing for the Corporate Games

February 21st, 2013, Cape Town – 3rd South Africa, Official License Holder of Corporate Games South Africa, invited companies from all over the Western Cape to participate in a Dragon Boat Challenge. The challenge saw companies battle it out on the sea, at the V&A Waterfront, Official Host Venue for the Cape Town Corporate Games 2013.

The Dragon Boat Challenge was initiated to give companies an opportunity to network and to experience first hand what the Cape Town Corporate Games is all about.

The sport discipline, dragon boat racing is certainly one of the most exciting of the 15 sporting codes scheduled for the Cape Town Corporate Games multi-sports festival later this year, which is expected to attract thousands of competitors from across South Africa.

On arrival, guests were divided into 3 teams to paddle against each other.  Top local companies that participated in the Dragon Boat challenge included the likes of Barloworld Motors, Sanlam, Intergest, RedBull, 24.com, Cape Media, NCC Environmental Services, Allan Gray, Evolv Networks, Tag Rugby®, Tsogo Sun Hotels, Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge, and City of Cape Town Fire & Rescue Services just to name a few.

Volker Werth,  Director at InterGest South Africa (PTY) Ltd commented:

“This event was a real surprise…..a fun and action filled race, in  an awesome setting, which makes for the perfect corporate challenge. I will definitely be entering my company again, and challenging my colleagues and associates to test their abilities this great event.”

Event partners of the Cape Town Corporate Games 2013, who came on board for the Dragon Boat Challenge, included SAB Miller and Red-bull who supplied participants with the necessary refreshments for the race.

The Dragon Boat Challenge was the perfect opportunity to engage in friendly rivalry in a race against each other and to reconnect through sport for fun and friendly competition, networking opportunities and social activities.

3rd South Africa will be arranging regular practice sessions to assist companies to train leading up to the Cape Town Corporate Games taking place from 06-09 June 2013.

During the practice sessions companies will be taught the techniques, commands and paddlers tips, ensuring that they are well prepared and synchronized for the race in the Cape Town Corporate Games. A perfectly synchronized team will almost always beat a stronger, but less coordinated team.

Preparing your teams for the Games

 

Here at the Cape Town Corporate Games office we understand that everyone has busy schedules existing of deadlines, meetings, kids, exercising and still finding a moment to spend time with loved ones. This is why we have decided to help.

Instead of adding more pressure to your already hectic lives we have decided to give you an a- z guide into the Corporate Games to ensure you know exactly what to do to be apart of The World’s largest multi-sport festivals for businesses and organisations.

So sit back, relax and follow the easy steps.

1. Learn more about the Corporate Games

The Corporate Games is the world’s largest corporate multi- sport festival for everyday athletes who love health, fitness and sport.

It was established to encourage companies to help their employees to live healthier and more active lifestyles.

The Corporate Games is an exciting & effective way to build team spirit and pride in your organisation.

Anyone can participate, regardless of their sporting ability or age. Everyone is encouraged to play in the multi- sport competition and remain active in sport whilst networking at the same time.

Remember, a participant is not required to be an employee. Colleagues, clients, retirees, spouses, family, friends, full/part time staff, associates or partners may enter.

The Games is a international event and it is staged throughout the year in different countries. It has been played on 5 continents, in 25 countries, 53 cities, attracting over 1 million participants and uniting 20,000 companies.

The Corporate Games is the ultimate mix of sport, business and tourism.

2. Spread the News

Create interest amongs your colleagues. Inform them about the benefits of being part of the Games and getting fit for business. The Games staff will gladly provide you with brochures, emails flyers, websites, DVD and supporting materials.

3. Choose your Sports

Get all the participants together and decide who wants to play what sport. There are 15 sports to choose from. Some are individual and some are in teams. One sport per participant.

4. Choose Leaders

If you do not already have a team leader, choose one. This person will be responsible for all participants of your company. The team leader can contact the Corporate Games office and we will provide them with the team leader handbook. A step by step on what to do when, why and how.

Team leaders must spread their workload. As potential participants learn their sport is on the programme natural leaders will emerge. Appoint them as sport leaders or appoint responsible persons in each department across the company.

5. Choose team names

This is alot of fun. Get all teams together and advise them to choose a name for their team. Once a few ideas have been given, let the mayority vote be the winning name.

6. Entering your teams

The closing date for entering the Cape Town Corporate Games is 10 May 2013. Entry forms and medical forms need to be completed by the above mentioned date and returned to the Cape Town Corporate Games office. Ensure all participants complete BOTH forms.

7. Get prepared

Check out your competition by following us on facebook, twitter and viewing our website.  Maximize your organisation’s visibility and promote team unity, pride & spirit through wearing team uniforms. Make corporate banners and flags to increase name recognition.

8. Practice, Practice, Practice

Ensure all participants prepare for the Games by getting fit and advance in the sport that they have chosen but most importantly make sure they have fun.

9. Registration

SuperCentre Registration takes place on Thursday 06 and Friday 07 June 2013 from 18:00 – 20:00 at the The Lookout – V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. All athletes must register in person during the given times and bring with them their Regisrtation Guide “which will be sent to each person before the Games” and a passport photo.

Teamwork is everything in Dragon Boat Racing, representing unity, strength, loyalty, honor, spirit, cooperation and determination.

These human-powered watercrafts are long and slender with decorated dragon heads and tails which are navigated by 12-16 rowers to the beat of heavy drums.

The Dragon Boat Challenge will see corporates from all over the Western Cape, contesting in mixed teams for the grand prize of complimentary practice sessions for their company leading up to the Cape Town Corporate Games in June 2013.

During the Complimentary Training Sessions, the crew will be taught the techniques, commands and paddlers tips, ensuring that they are well prepared and synchronized for the race. A perfectly synchronized team will almost always beat a stronger, but less coordinated team.

There will be 3 Dragon Boats in 1 Race to determine if you have got what it takes to represent your company in the winning crew.

The Cape Town Corporate Games organisers are creating a networking opportunity for companies on a different platform. The Dragon Boat Challenge will allow one selected individual from each of the various companies to experience the Games first hand before the Cape Town Corporate Games in June 2013.

Seasons Greetings from Cape Town Corporate Games

On behalf of 3rd South Africa, Official License Holders of Corporate Games South Africa, we would like to thank all our clients for their support throughout the year.

Looking back at the year that has flown by, the highlight is definitely the success of the inaugural Cape Town Corporate Games which took place from 14-17 June 2012. The response has been overwhelming and we cannot be more appreciative of all the support and assistance that we received from our partners, sponsors and the participants during the Games.

We would like to thank the City of Cape Town, all sponsors, participants and supporters for their contribution during the first edition of the Cape Town Corporate Games. It was a honour to host such a magnificent event in the Sport Capital of South Africa.

Because of the success of 2012 and the positive feedback that we have received from companies we are proud to bring you the 2nd edition of Cape Town Corporate Games. The ventures that 2013 will bring is undoubtably going to be bigger and more challenging than ever.

The second edition of the Cape Town Corporate Games will take place over the weekend of 06 – 09 June 2013. Our host venue is the V&A Waterfront which add great value to the event and is expected to advance Cape Towns development as a sport, business and tourism destination.

A warm welcome to Sanlam and to the V&A Waterfront for joining the 100 Club Members for the 2013 Games. The best of luck to both teams.

The V&A Waterfront is Challenging Sanlam by also Joining the 100 Club Members

There is a big buzz in the Corporate world as the V&A Watefront have announce that they will be joining the 100 Club Members together with Sanlam.

Competition is high and the teams are eager to start training and showing off their mean sporting skills.

Seeing that Sanlam walked away with the Sport For Life award and won the Medalist Award in 2012, just to name a few, the V&A Waterfront has some tough competition.

Let’s hope the V&A Waterfront have started shaping up and are preparing in full force for next years Games.

The Sport For Life Grand Award recognises commitment to company spirit, employee fitness and the value of participation in the Cape Town Corporate Games. It is awarded to the Organisation entering the largest number of athletes. Sanlam entered a whopping 189 team member in the Cape Town Corporate Games in 2012.

The Medalist Award is presented to the Organisation which wins the most medals in the Games and Sanlam has set an excellent total to be challenged in future Games.

Official Sports Locations for Cape Town Corporate Games 2013

The Cape Town Corporate Games has confirmed its venues for the 2013 Games, all of which add great value to the event and that is expected to advance Cape Towns development as a sport tourism destination.

Our host venue is the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, where Dragonboat, Netbal, Lawn bowls, Tag rugby, Table Tennis and Badminton will be hosted. It is situated at the foot of Table Mountain, within a stone’s throw from the Cape Town Stadium and in the heart of Cape Town’s working harbour.

Western Province Cricket Club is our venue of choice for mountain biking, trail running, Soccer 11‘s and Squash. The Club officially opened its Sports Centre in August 2003, in Rondebosch and even though we are only using the club for four sports events, they have many other sports facilities on offer.

The below venues will once again be part of the Games and we cannot be more excited.

Golf will be hosted by Rondebosch Golf Course, Go Karting will take place at Kenilworth Karting and Stadium on Main will have Ten Pin Bowling.

Wow, What a Year! Thank you for your Support…

Well, what a year it has been, with celebrations, anniversary’s and an unprecedented number of great Games too.In June we joyfully celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Istanbul Corporate Games before concluding this years Games calendar by celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Australian Corporate Games last weekend.Along the way we had the pleasure of witnessing brand new Corporate Games in a host of spectacular destinations like Abu Dhabi, Bermuda, Bucharest, Cape Town, Delhi, Manila and Mexico. As ever, terrific Games were staged in Sydney, Brisbane and Thredbo. We enjoyed continued success with the UK Corporate Games in Preston, the 5th World Corporate Cup of Soccer at Anfield (home of Liverpool FC) as well as inaugural editions of the Bucharest Corporate Cup of Soccer and the Europe Corporate Cup of Tennis.I am sure you will agree that 2012 has been a wonderful year for everyone involved, with more opportunities provided than ever before.All of these Games and More will be made available for you to enter next year, as well as the breathtaking 19th UK Corporate Games in the heart of England in Coventry, the 1st Buenos Aires Corporate Games, as well as first editions of the Annecy-le- Vieux Corporate Games in France and the Transylvanian Winter Corporate Games in Dracula’s homeland early in February. We are also delighted to confirm that the World Corporate Cup of Soccer will be returning to Anfield at the start of June, as the hospitality and access granted to us by Liverpool Football Club is truly exceptional, enabling us to deliver another unparalleled experience with everyone playing at least one match on the Hallowed turf!.

It has been a pleasure to bring these unrivalled opportunities to you this year and we will be looking forward to enhancing these opportunties for you and your Organisations next year and in the future. You are the Worldwide Corporate Sport Community and we are proud to have your support.

Springbok Atlas Official Logistic Partner for Cape Town

 

The Cape Town Corporate Games team are proud to announce that Springbok Atlas have come on board as the Official Logistic Partners for the 2013 Games. Springbok Atlas will provide a bus route from the Host Venue, V&A Waterfront, to specialised venues for selected sports during the Games weekend.

By teaming up with Springbok Atlas we will create a fast and efficient transport route for all our participants. All athletes can join in on the parade taking place at the V&A Waterfront, and then hop onto one of the busses to be chaffeured to their selected venue where they will be participating in their selected sport. The bus route will also enable participants to go and support their fellow colleagues at other venues while they are waiting for their next match to take place. With the assistance of Springbok Atlas, the Games will bring teams together and show them the impact and importance of supporting their fellow colleagues.

Branding will be placed on the luxury busses to ensure that all teams and supporters are aware of the transport from venue to venue that the Games and Springbok Atlas are offering them.

For more than six decades, Springbok Atlas have been transporting clients safely, to and from their destinations from across South Africa and Namibia. They own over 70 modern coaches and vehicles which is all kept in top knotch condition and do thorough pre-departure and safety inspections before every trip.

They have been the trusted transport provider for the Springbok Rugby Team, the Kaizer Chiefs and the 2012 Soccer World Cup.

Not only will they ensure that all the Corporate Games participants get to and from the venues safely and in comfort but they will also be making the logistics of travel easier and a lot more affordable from venue to venue.

We are very excited to have Springbok Atlas on board and having them join one of the largests multi- sports event of its kind in the world. Now all participants can support their fellow team members by visiting the different venues around Cape Town.

 

V&A Waterfront to host Cape Town Corporate Games 06-09 June 2013

 

The Cape Town Corporate Games has confirmed its host venue for the 2013 Games, and not only does it add great value to the event, it is expected to advance Cape Towns development as a sport tourism destination.

3rd South Africa is proud to announce that V&A Waterfront is the prestigious Host Venue for Cape Town Corporate Games to be held over the period of 06-09 June 2013.

Situated at the foot of Table Mountain with panoramic views of the ocean and city bowl, the vibrant V&A Waterfront will play host to multiple networking opportunities and sporting codes during the Cape Town Corporate Games 2013. High expectations for Cape Town Corporate Games 2013

3rd SA “The Official License Holders for Corporate Games South Africa” is busy at full force preparing for the 2013 Corporate Games, and the second time around will be even bigger and better!

Cape Town has once again been chosen as the Host City for this prestigious multi-sports festival and various locations are being considered for Cape Town Corporate Games 2013. Venue selections will be made to ensure that the participants experience the whole of Cape Town and its beautiful surroundings.Athletes from all over South Africa will be gearing up for the multi-sports festival which was a great success this year.

Next year’s festival will feature 15 sports, including Action Cricket, Soccer 5’s, Dragon Boating, Golf, Karting, Lawn Bowls, Netball and Running – to name a few. 3rd SA have also decided to include Mountain biking and Tag Rugby for the 2013 Games which is sure to be a popular selection amongst Athletes.

Over the 3-4 days that the Cape Town Corporate Games will be held, participants will enjoy competing with friends and foes, as well as experience the ultimate mix of sport, business and tourism.
