Excitement Builds for Local Companies

Ben Sedgemore, Games Director at the Games World Headquarters was equally enthusiastic about the plans to stage the World Corporate Games in Mexico City, he said ” I first met Juan Manuel in 2010 and from the first moment we struck up a bond based upon trust.  It was clear to see that this was a man who understood sport and events extremely well and he was also incredibly proud of his country.  We have already worked closely with Juan Manuel and his team to stage a number of excellent Games in Monterrey, Toluca and Mexico City so it is fitting that this group will have the opportunity to stage the World Corporate Games in Mexico City next year”.

The Games is programmed to take place from the 12th-15th November 2015 and it will feature a packed 19 sport programme and host of wonderful celebrations too.

Cape Town Corporate Games Adopt a School

Nowadays there are so many charities that need help, that choosing one can be a grueling process. However, for the team here at the Cape Town Corporate Games the decision was quite clear when we heard about the Tag Rugby association. Seeing that one of the new sports that we are adding to our sports list in 2013 is tag rugby, we could not deny the coincidence as well as the relevance.

Not only does the Tag Rugby Adopt a School Programme help children off the streets and away from the ills they are confronted with on a daily basis, but they do this by encouraging the children to participate in sport.

By playing Tag Rugby, the children do not only learn to be active, but get so much more out of the experience. Sport teaches these children to play peacefully among each other, to respect their peers, to respect the rules of the game and the list goes on. Recognising the need for both sexes to play sport together, Tag Rugby deletes the fear of injury as it is a no contact sport.

In this programme a Corporate Company Adopts a School in their immediate area or a school that most of their workforce would go to. Tag Rugby will supply all neccesary equipment, show the children of the Companys’ school of choice how to play, empower a teacher and some students to supervise the games on an ongoing basis and will supply the Corporate Company with a report and pictures once a term on the progress of the school.

This truly is a cause that the Corporate Games believe in and we look forward to be part of such a magnificent initiative. We invite all companies/charities to use the Games as a platform to raise funds for their own charities too.

Staying in the spirit of sport.

Organisations which participated in this year’s Games are already preparing and strengthening their teams for next year.  The Corporate Games received a tremendous welcome in Cape Town, and the response has been extraordinary.

Many participants and sponsors have given feedback and this is what they had to say:

Bongani Moyo from the PEP Central Office
“New bursts of energy and friendships have been ignited by taking part in the Corporate Games as the PEP Cape Town Team. To have your family and colleagues shout your name in encouragement is fantastic . We had a great, successful and enjoyable experience. It was such a great way to build spirit and to be proudly PEP. Thank you to everyone involved off and on the field of play. Let’s do it again in 2013.”

D. Bolton, Human Resource Generalist at Cape Union Mart Head Office
“Very well organised, very professional and knowledgeable staff. I can’t wait for next year.”

Lauren Peters from Spur Corporation Brand Activation Manager
“Spur Corporation is proud to be a sponsor of the first Cape Town Corporate Games. The event was enjoyed by all, not only our team participants but also by the spectators, and although our golfers did not win any trophies our dragon boat team managed to come out tops in their category. Thank you to “3rd South Africa” for bringing this event to Cape Town and executing it in such a professional manner.”

The expectation for next year is very high and the Cape Town team is confident that they will be exceeding them. This will undoubtedly be the event of the year and everyone is excited to see what the 2013 Corporate Games will bring.
