After great Games experiences for thousands of organisations in recent years and the enjoyable Launch in early October, the next Games in the UK is set to be a huge success, creating unrivalled opportunities for everyone involved.

Over 1000 Athletes from all over South Africa proudly participated in the Cape Town Corporate Games 2012

Over 1,000 athletes from all over South Africa celebrated the arrival of the Cape Town Corporate Games and proudly participated in multiple sport disciplines on 14-17 June 2012.

The multi sports festival weekend featured over 13 sports at destinations across Cape Town, including University of Cape Town, Montague Arena, V & A Waterfront, Kenilworth Karting, Mowbray Bowling Club, Stadium on Main and Rondebosch Golf Club. Over 87 sporting events took place and more than 800 prestigious medals were handed out.

Organisations such as Tsogo Sun Hotels, Sanlam, City of Cape Town, SAB Miller, Spur Corporation, Barloworld, Cape Union Mart and Pep, brought teams of their staff from all over South Africa. Some of the larger organisations brought over 200 from their ranks to compete in almost every sport.

Across the weekend of Cape Town Corporate Games 14-17 June 2012, competitors enjoyed the camaraderie of sporting competition. Everyday Athletes played amongst colleagues, friends, clients and the local community in a multi-sport festival of corporate competition, fitness and fun.

Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille commented:

The Official Licence Holders for Corporate Games South Africa, 3rd SA are delighted with the resounding success of the first inaugural Cape Town Corporate Games.

Corporate Games which is recognised as the World’s largest corporate multisport festival, benefits everyone that gets involved and there really is no better way to showcase what a region has to offer to the sporting business world.

The welcome Corporate Games received in Cape Town has been terrific. The Organisers are assured that people will be returning to their offices today with weary limbs yet big smiles and great memories. The standard of facilities has been exemplary, our local event coordinators were great ambassadors for their respective sports and it truly was an unforgettable weekend.

Nearly 600 first, second and third place medals were awarded to Games Winners across the weekend and spectators cheered them on as they stepped onto the podiums to receive their accolades.

Some of the largest businesses in the country entered into the Games, including City of Cape Town, Sanlam, SAB Miller, Barloworld Motor, BAT, Spur and our Official Hotel Partner Tsogo Sun, Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel.

 

Kilowatt AV were the fastest on the twisty racetrack in Karting and speeded into first place in the Mens Open.TSOGO Sun Hotels walked away with the Sport Championship Award for Action Cricket. The hospitality Athletes also raced for the finish line and were well ahead of the other Athletes taking the first place in the Women Open 5km Race.

Meanwhile, the Mens Open Soccer 11’s saw the City of Cape Town storm to victory as they battled for first place against Airports Company South Africa. The two teams were closely matched and the game went into a penalty shootout, before the City of Cape Town scored the winning goal. The Capetonians representing the City proudly took the Sport Championship Award for Soccer 11’s. 

Turkish Airlines came away with second place and JAG Foundation in third for the Dragon Boat racing. Spur who were also the Silver Sponsors for Cape Town Corporate Games 2012 rowed away as overall winners and also claiming the Sport Championship Award for Dragon Boat racing.

Among other sports, Sanlam finished in first place coming through a tunnel formed by the England Under 20’s Rugby Team who were practicing on the fields of UCT and won the Mix Open Relay. Sanlam also won the Sport Championship Award for Badminton, Golf, Lawn Bowls, Netball. Running, Soccer 5’s, Squash, Table Tennis and Tenpin Bowling.

“Sanlam is proud to be part of the first Corporate Games to be hosted in South Africa. It was a truly magnificent weekend with brutal competition and friendly camaraderie on and off the field.

Games in Bucharest sign 3 year deal with Ancarda

Ancarda, manufacturer of Sports clothing, have been awarded the supply contract for all the uniforms for the staff, management, officials and referee’s for the Corporate Games Bucharest 2012.

The Contract has been awarded for a three year period and we are looking to develop a very strong relationship over this time.

They have also agreed to become an Official Sponsor of the Games and are looking forward to entering a number of teams to compete in May 2012.

World Trade Centre becomes Official Sponsor of the Games

World Trade Centre in Bucharest, Romania, has signed a sponsorship agreement with Corporate Games to host the SuperCentre for the Corporate Games Bucharest 2012.

The Games, which will be run over 4 days in May 2012, will host 1000’s of participants and all will register at the SuperCentre and will receive promotions and gifts from the Games Sponsors.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Corporate Games in Romania, Mr Radu Radulescu, said that it is a perfect match to have the Official Hotel and the SuperCentre in the same location.

The World Trade centre will also be entering participants into the Games in May next year.
