Breaking News: We have something special in Store for keen cyclists everywhere!

Cycling was a great success at the Word Corporate Games last year in Liverpool and resultantly we have been inundated with requests to include this growing sport on this year’s programme. In an attempt to satisfy these calls the Corporate Games Team have viewed a number of possibilities across the region and we now feel that we have found the perfect venues for these special events. So we are delighted to confirm that Cycling has recently been added to our packed 23 sport weekend programme for the UK Corporate Games Stoke and Staffordshire 2015.

There are not one but two cycling event disciplines that you can select and participants can enter 1 event or both. First up we have the challenging multi-lap 40K Road Race circuit AND the following day will see the staging of a difficult 16K Time Trial.

For the 40K Road Race we have decided that the perfect destination is the Curborough Sprint Course. It is a little bit further away from the main venues for this year’s Games but it is easily accessible by road and nestled near Lichfield in the outer edge of the County of Staffordshire. The course has a great reputation for car racing but it is also a British Cycling approved performance centre and this should make it the perfect destination for our Saturday morning Road Race. The road surface is in excellent condition and the sweeping bends and fast straights will make it an exciting challenge for cyclists of all abilities.

Then on Sunday morning we have the CTT approved Time Trail race in Lichfield over a challenging 16k to blow the cobwebs away after the Great Games Party on Saturday night! For anyone who wants to get a first glimpse of the road circuit feel free to have a look at this:  PS- we did not choose the music!

Staff Across The UK Are Setting Their Sights On Preston

UK Corporate Games

January is an exciting time – massive sales, the football transfer window briefly opens and closes and offices across the country open for the New Year’s activities.  There’s a great amount of anticipation in the air as we all look forward to what 2012 has to offer.

And with the likes of Paul Scholes coming out of retirement to play in the FA Cup 3rd Round against arch-rivals Manchester City and then scoring against Bolton Wanderers in the very next game – this has just exemplified that you are never too old to get back into the Sport you love the most!

2011 has come and gone and both organisations and staff alike are now able to assess what they did (or didn’t do) that greatly increased their bottom line, or how they may have even added a few pounds without realising it!

This time of year is where organisations can re-evaluate their targets, review performances and recognise and reward those that have achieved success.

So one has to ask…how strong is the commitment of the staff in your office?  Are your staff loyal to the company and is their loyalty recognised and appreciated?  Is the morale in the office one to be envied or could it use a boost?

‘Research carried out in the NHS as part of the Health at Work in the NHS programme, run from 1992 to 2002, showed that action to improve staff health and welfare was most successful where it was high on the management’s list of priorities and where the action taken was integrated with other management action.’ Respondent, NHS Employers.

Our sales team has been meeting with organisations of every size and kind with the view to inviting them to take part in Europe’s largest corporate multisport festival, the UK Corporate Games, which is set to be hosted by the City of Preston on the 12-15 July 2012.  Not only is it an Olympic year in the UK but it’s also a Guild Year in the North West and this is a unique opportunity for management teams to step forward and take action to look at improving the health and wellbeing of their staff and ultimately their business as a whole.

The Corporate Games improves staff’s health & wellbeing in numerous ways and here are just a few examples:

The Games offers 22 Sports in which staff of any age or ability can participate in and look to regain or build upon their confidence, loyalty and team spirit.

The Games encourages employees to get fit and active and have fun while doing this in a competitive and social environment.

Staff can meet their colleagues face to face over the weekend and play Sports that help improve communication, team-bonding and relationship-building – all things that can be directly transferred to the workplace after the final whistle has been blown.

The Games is open to all for the benefit of all and even though the blue chip companies such as the likes of IBM, Intel Corporation, KPMG and Ernst & Young have shown that they will support their staff to the ends of the earth, it is worth taking time to mention some of the smaller companies that have either been a part of or recently joined the Worldwide Corporate Games Community and have their sights firmly set on Preston in July.

The likes of Onwards & Upwards, All Nations Badminton Club, Youth Sport Trust, Nene Jag Specialists, RDC, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, GB Energy and Graham Gillett Associates have all shown that the real benefits of participation can be enjoyed by all and that the Games entry fee is really one of the best investments that an organisation will ever make.
