The Games Headquarters will be working closely with partners from Nottingham Conferences, Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City Council, University of Nottingham Sport and luxury hotel company Principal Hayley Group to develop the ultimate mix of sport business and tourism for as many people as possible. Everyone is aiming to make this the very best Corporate Games in its 30 year history.

Ben Sedgemore, Games Director said “We have been blown away by the quality and the number of impressive facilities that are available in Nottingham and staging the next UK Corporate Games there presents us with a wonderful opportunity. We are confident that with its powerful business infrastructure and central location that Nottingham will be an extremely popular destination for business visitors from across the UK and beyond as well as the local populace.”

The City boasts an array of first class sports facilities and many of these will be showcased over the Games weekend. In addition there are more than two thousands bedrooms available on the campus as well as numerous 2-5 Star hotels in the surrounding area to cater for everyone’s needs.

Andrew May, General Manager of Nottingham Conferences commented “We are thrilled that together with our bid partners, Principal Hayley Group and Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, we have secured the UK Corporate Games for 2017 for the City of Nottingham. This is a great opportunity to bring the city together and for us to showcase our brand new £40m David Ross Sports Village, the latest addition to an already stellar collection of state-of-the-art sporting facilities available at the university.” The addition of this enormous world class venue should enable the Games team to stage at least 15 sports on campus. With the ability to have both accommodation and sport all on one site an impressive ‘sports village environment’ will be created for everyone to enjoy. This will deliver a wonderful platform to promote team building, company and business engagement as well as improving workplace health & well-being.

Press Release – Team Leader Day

Europe’s largest multisport festival for businesses, the UK Corporate Games is coming to Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire from the 25-28th June.  This week saw preparations intensify as the Games team staged the Team Leader Orientation Day.

The Team Leader Orientation Day gave committed company Team Leaders from the likes of IBM, Virgin Trains, C2HMHILL, CSC, Lloyds Banking Group and a host of others the opportunity to get their first glimpse of the venues that will be hosting the Games in June.

Team Leaders from Preston, Blackpool, Leeds, London, Swindon and throughout the UK were joined by local business men and women from Staffordshire who were keen to see the venues and to learn a little more about what the Games can do for their business.

The journey began at Alton Towers Resort with a fabulous lunch in the impressive Conferencing facilities at the Alton Towers Hotel followed by a brief Games presentation.

The guests then boarded a luxury Walton’s coach to see the array of impressive venues for sport and celebrations that Stoke and Staffordshire had to offer for this year’s Games.  Some visitors and locals alike were surprised by what was available in the region and everybody was seemingly impressed by the great indoor capacity at Fenton Manor and St. Peters College, the incredible investment and regeneration that has taken place at Newcastle-under-Lyme College, the picturesque beauty of Trentham Gardens, the extensive facilities at Keele University and the great location of the SuperCentre at the Staffs University SportsCentre and Student complex.

The ride on Oblivion was brilliant and the lunch and end of day Canape’s at Alton Towers were exceptional”.

Games Director Ben Sedgemore commented “ We have all had a fabulous day and I know we have surprised a lot of people with the quality of what is available in this region.  The facilities are superb and in Alton Towers there is a really unique environment.  People are familiar with the Park’s outstanding reputation as one of the prime entertainment parks in the world but in addition to this people may not realise that they have one of the best hospitality and conferencing programmes that we have seen.  We would be happy to recommend it to anyone based upon our experience”.
